CHRYSANTHEMUM CELEBRATION - NCS SCOTTISH GROUP

~

REBECCA WALKER by Ally Donald, Brechin

This variety is cultivated in exactly the same method as White Sally Duchess. Rebecca Walker is a strong grower with beautiful foliage, growing to four and a half feet in height. I have found that this cultivar is prone to damp on the lower petals, so before the 15"x13" bloom bag is fitted the flower is sprayed with a Benlate mixture, and the bags tied 3" below the bottom of the flower, this appears to work for me.

When the blooms are cut 48 hours before a show, the bag is carefully cut open along the top but not removed from the bloom, the stem is then cut to the requir ed length and put in a bucket of deep water for 36 hours after which the bag is removed from the bloom. I have never boiled stems as I feel it serves no useful purpose.
