Show Report - Sydney 2000 by Laurie Bird |
Laurie has kindly forwarded a
very comprehensive report giving the results of the Chrysanthemum classes at the Sydney
Show.
This season has been a little
unpredictable for growers with unusual conditions during the most important stages of
cultivation, this of course applies mainly to the metropolitan growers and to a lesser
degree the country growers, but most have had their fair share of problems. This was most
apparent in the breakdown of entries and number of blooms compared to 1999. The difference
in entries was 112. (1999 - 314 entries; 2000 - 202 entries). The difference in the total
number of blooms was 514. (1999 - 1279 blooms; 2000 - 765 blooms).
Although this year we were down in quantity it was still
a very good show, with some very good quality blooms on the bench.
