2007, CHINA EXPERIENCE On chrysanthemums

The Conference

Annual Meeting and  International Workshop
Saturday and Sunday, 24th and 25th November, saw the Annual Meeting and  International Workshop. This was held in Xiao-lan in Zhong-shan City, China. Speeches of course were delivered welcoming all speakers and guests.

There were numerous Chinese speakers who for the most part spoke on technical aspects of chrysanthemums. A few spoke on cultivation and diseases. All speakers had interpreters to Chinese or English, whichever was the case.

For details of the speakers and the topics covered click the 'Speakers and Topics' link.

After each of the 2 days we were taken to a formal dinner and given exotic Chinese dishes. One dish of Black Chicken Soup definitely made you look. I will give nearly  anything a go, but it still tasted like chicken.

A special chrysanthemum liqueur was made for this occasion which the Chinese called a wine and drank it as such. It was not wine but more like a liqueur and I drank it as such.

Inevitably we all learnt a few phrases in the local lingo which helped break the ice on first meetings and introductions.
