This page records events in the 2001
growing season. The first part of the page gives details of the cultivars being grown this
year and the dates on which certain activities and events take place.The second part of
the page is a journal of events and activities during 2001, I'll try to keep this updated
regularly.
This year I've decided to grow all medium
cultivars, with an emphasis on medium intermediates.
I'm not sure whether this page will be of
interest to readers or not, some feedback will be helpful. Thanks.

Quite
a few cuttings taken now, all being given 5-7 days cold treatment before being placed on
the propagator.
Nearly all cuttings of disbud cultivars now taken. Cuttings from 17/12 now rooted.
Earliest cuttings now well rooted and moved into 3.5" pots.
Sarah Louise and Darlington Anniversary rooted cuttings received from supplier today.
Later rooted cuttings of disbuds moved into 3.5" pots this weekend.
Planting out just about finished now. Most cultivars have good root systems.
Liquid feeding underway. Lots of buds now visible. Nothing secured yet.
Virtually all buds now secured - looks like it could be an early season. Liquid feeding
continuing on a regular basis.
Roof put in place over outdoor earlies. Bagging blooms well underway. Shading applied to
glass in greenhouses. |
