New Zealand map

Welcome to our homepage we hope you will find something of interest in these new pages.

New Zealand is located in the South Pacific, between 34 and 47 degrees South. It is approx 2000 km east of Australia and 8000 km west of Chile, with very little land in between. New Zealand comprises two main islands ( the North and South Islands ), and a number of smaller islands. The total land area, 268,680 sq km (103,738 sq miles), which is a little less than that of Italy and Japan and a little more than the United Kingdom.

The country extends more than 1600 kilometres along its main, north-north-east axis, with approximately 15,000 km of coastline. The population is just over 4 million and approximately 1 million of the population live in the greater Auckland area.

New Zealand weather is extremely variable. It can range from bright sunshine to rain to hail to snow, all in a matter of hours.- "four seasons in one day". Weather conditions also differ depending on which

part of the country you live in. The north of the North Island is sub-tropical - with warm humid weather. The south of the South Island, on the other hand, is the first port of call for Antarctic blasts. The west coast is wetter and cooler than the east coast, which is drier and hotter. Despite the variable weather conditions New Zealand's climate is moderate. During the winter you can expect highs of around 15 degrees Celsius, and lows between -10 and 10 degrees (depending on which part of the country you are in). In summer expect highs between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius, and lows around 15 degrees. New Zealand also has one of the highest UV ratings in the world.
