Another good show at Grangemouth with most classes well supported. The results of the chrysanthemum classes are as follows:
In the class for three vases of five blooms Tom Buchan came first from five entries. Tom used Lynn Johnson, Primrose Chessington and Apricot Chessington. The Apricot Chessington was also selected as Best Vase in Show and the entry collected the Best Exhibit in Chrysanthemums award. In second place was local Grangemouth grower Dave Scott, Dave's entry consisted of Lynn Johnson, Apricot Courtier and Primrose Rachel Knowles. In third place was John Currie's entry of Dorridge Crystal, Oyster and Primrose Chessington.
Three entries in the class for two vases of five blooms. In first place was Tom Buchan's entry of Lynn Johnson and Oyster Chessington, second place went to Jack Kevan, Yellow Courtier and White Pearl Celebration and in third place Paul Barlow's entry of Cornetto and Peach John Wingfield.
The class for three vases of three large blooms attracted a number of good entries. In first place Jack Kevan's entry of Pearl Celebration, White Pearl, Cherry Chessington. In second spot was Dave Scott, Yellow and Apricot Courtier and Lynn Johnson. In third place David Tait, (Ed Hodgson, Primrose Chessington and Pink World of Sport).
The class for three vases of three medium blooms was equally well contested with seven entries this year. The red ticket went to Dorothy Spencer with three Wingfields - Yellow, Pink and Peach. Second place went to Robert Jackson (Grangemouth) with another Wingfield set of John Wingfield plus Yellow and Peach. In third place Paul Barlow - Pink and Yellow John Wingfield plus Woolley Globe.
In the spray classes the main class is for six vases of five stems of exhibition sprays. Two entries in this class this year. In first place Eric Wilson (Penpont) finishing off another successful season. Eric's entry consisted of Rose, Ruby and Enbee Wedding plus Southway Strontium, Broadway Mandy and Janet Elizabeth. In second place D Graham with an Enbee Wedding entry of Peach (2), Primrose (2), White and Honey.
In the three vase class for exhibition sprays Henry Haig picked up the red ticket with Rose Enbee, Southway Snoopy and Pennine Swing. J Pitcaitly was second with Ruby Enbee, Peach Enbee and Southway Strontium. D Graham was third with White, Primrose and Honey Enbee wedding.
