Early Show results 2001 - Perth Chrysanthemum & Dahlia Society

The City Hall in Perth makes an excellent setting for this show. Once again the exhibitors put on a fine display of chrysanthemums.  Details of the winners of chrysanthemum classes follow.

The main class calls for six vases of five blooms in at least 4 different cultivars. Three entries in the class this year. Taking the red ticket , was Paul Barlow (Aberdeen) using all medium cultivars - Pink John Wingfield, Peach John Wingfield, Cornetto, Yellow John Wingfield, John Wingfield and Woolley Pride. This exhibit was awarded the NCS Silver Medal for Best Exhibit in Show and the W.D. MacConnachie Memorial trophy. The vase of Woolley Pride from this entry was selected as Best Vase in Show and awarded the NCS Bronze Medal. In second place was Alastair Cameron (Perth) again using all medium cultivars John Wingfield, Pink John Wingfield (2), Peach John Wingfield (2) and Yellow John Wingfield. In third spot was David Tait (Dundee).  David used  Ed Hodgson, Gold Courtier, Apricot Courtier(2), Lilac Chesington and Cornetto.

Class no 7 calls for three vases of 3 blooms. Always a well contested class and this year was no exception. The winning entry came from Bill Martin using Primrose Rachel Knowles, Lynn Johnson and Oyster Chessington. Second place went to Jim Hosie ( Lynn  Johnson, Woolley Globe, Yellow John Wingfield) and in third spot was Wallace Murray (Woolley Globe, Primrose Muriel Vipas, Cornetto).

Class 12 calls for three vases of five blooms mediums. Another closely contested class with Jim Cathcart (switching from exhibition sprays to mediums this year) picking up the red ticket and the NCS Certificate of merit for his entry of Woolley Globe, Cornetto annd John Wingfield. In second spot Jim Hosie (John Wingfield along with the pink and yellow sports). In third place Wallace Murray (Muriel Vipas, Pink John Wingfield and Peach John Wingfield.

In the Exhibition Spray class for six vases A. Robertson took the red ticket with an 'all Enbee' entry of Ruby (2), Honey, Bronze, Apricot and Enbee itself. 

In the three vases class Ken Findlay showed Oriel, Enbee Wedding and Bronze EW.
