Royal
Horticultural Society Aberdeen - 28th August 2004
The RHS show is one the
highlights in the Aberdeen horticultural calendar. Unfortunately the show
made the headlines this year for all the wrong reasons. During the day prior to
the show the gales were so severe that two of the large marquees were all but
demolished. Many exhibitors lost their exhibits as the marquees partially
collapsed around lunchtime. Fortunately no one was injured and the show
continued albeit in somewhat smaller facilities.
In the disbud classes Fraserburgh
growers Tom Buchan was successful in 3 vases of large while Dennis Morrice
pipped Aberdeen grower Jim Craigen for the medium class (in the picture below
Dennis' entry is on the left and Jims entry on the right). In the exhibition
sprays Ed Mitchell from Montrose was successful and in the natural sprays Doug
Stewart emerged the winner.
