Aberdeen C&D Society - 16th September

2006 represented a milestone in the Society's history - the 50 Year Anniversary Show. The show was well supported with a fine show of chrysanths and dahlias, the Floral Art section was particularly impressive with extra staging commandeered to cope with the number of entries. The results from the chrysanthemum classes are detailed below.

The Aberdeen Championship for Large blooms requires three vases of five blooms in three cultivars. Three superb entries this year - Tom Buchan's entry of Yellow Courtier, Lynn Johnson and Pearl Celebration was placed first, this exhibit was also Best Exhibit in show and the Yellow Courtier selected as Best Vase in show and awarded the NCS Silver Medal. In second place was Bill Angus with a weighty set of blooms that included Lynn Johnson, Beryl Wallbank and Clapham Delight. Dennis Morrice's entry of Billy Bell, Malcolm Perkins and Clapham Delight was third.

The Aberdeen Champion of Mediums class requires three vases of five blooms in 3 cultivars. Paul Barlow's all Wingfield entry (pink, peach and salmon) was first with Jim Craigen (Cornetto, Lorna Wood, Carlene Welby) in second place.

The Press and Journal Trophy class requires six vases of three blooms in at least four cultivars. Just one entry this year from Paul Barlow (Cornetto, Millennium, John Wingfield plus salmon and honey(2) sports.

In the spray classes Doug Stewart (Aberdeen)  won the class for three vases of Natural Sprays, Doug used Myss Angie, Yellow Enbee Wedding and Southway Seraphim.  Second in this class was Donald Buchan with vases of Pennine Foam, Peach E.W. Honey E.W. In third place was Ed Mitchell's entry of Primrose E.W. Rose E.W. Peach E.W.

In the Exhibition sprays Arthur Fisher was successful with Enbee Wedding, Honey Enbee Wedding and Pennine Swan. Doug Stewart was second - Yellow E.W. Honey E.W. Hillsway Billy.

In the local Growers class for three vases of three blooms Donald Buchan's entry (Lorna Wood, Honey John Wingfield, Cornetto) was placed first ahead of Jim Craigen (Kimberley Marie, Yellow John Wingfield, Vanessa Lynn).

In the open class for three vases of three blooms Tom Buchan continued his winning streak with excellent vases of Purple Chempak Rose, Honey John Wingfield and Millennium. The Purple Chempak from this exhibit was selected as Best Vase of three blooms in Show and awarded the NCS Bronze Medal. Jim Craigen was second with Alex Young, Kimberley Marie and Yellow John Wingfield.

In the two vase class (one vase large and one vase mediums) Paul Barlow was successful with Billy Bell and Carlene Welby, Dennis Morrice was second with Clapham Delight and Carlene Welby.
