Aberdeen C&D
Society - 16th September
2006 represented a milestone in the
Society's history - the 50 Year Anniversary Show. The show
was well supported with a fine show of chrysanths and dahlias, the Floral
Art section was particularly impressive with extra staging commandeered to
cope with the number of entries. The results from the chrysanthemum
classes are
detailed below.
The Aberdeen Championship for Large blooms requires three
vases of five blooms in three cultivars. Three superb entries
this year - Tom Buchan's entry of Yellow Courtier, Lynn Johnson and Pearl
Celebration was placed first, this exhibit was also Best Exhibit in show
and the Yellow Courtier selected as Best Vase in show and awarded the NCS
Silver Medal. In second place was Bill Angus with a weighty set of blooms
that included Lynn Johnson, Beryl Wallbank and Clapham Delight. Dennis
Morrice's entry of Billy Bell, Malcolm Perkins and Clapham Delight was
third.
The Aberdeen Champion of Mediums class requires three vases
of five blooms in 3 cultivars. Paul Barlow's all Wingfield
entry (pink, peach and salmon) was first with Jim Craigen (Cornetto, Lorna Wood,

three blooms in at least four cultivars. Just one entry this
year from Paul Barlow (Cornetto, Millennium, John Wingfield plus salmon and
