Scottish National C&D Show - 5th/6th September

After a couple of lean years the chrysanth growers filled the benches at the Scottish National at the Albert Halls in Stirling.

In the class for six vases of Large John Milligan was the only entry with Formcast (2), Yellow Courtier (2), Apricot and Gold Courtier.

Two entries in the class for six vases of mediums - Dave Scott was first with John Wingfield plus pink, peach, honey and candy sports along with Millennium. This entry was judged overall best exhibit and also contained the best vase of mediums and overall best vase in show - Pink John Wingfield. Paul Barlow's entry was second (Yellow John Wingfield (2), Honey, Candy and pink John Wingfield, plus red Chempak Rose).

In the class for three vases of five blooms Paul Barlow's entry of salmon, candy and pink John Wingfield was first, ahead of Dennis Morrice (Malcolm Perkins (best vase Large), Carlene Welby and Millennium). J Thorburn was placed third (John Wingfield plus yellow and salmon sports). A well contested class.

In the class for three vases of three blooms Dave Scott's entry of John Wingfield plus pink and peach sports took the red card ahead of Dennis Morrice's Billy Bell, Malcolm Perkins and Lorna Wood.

The class for six vases of three blooms was won by Ian Whitelaw (Yellow Billy Bell (2), Billy Bell, John Wingfield plus pink and peach sports). Ian also won the 'mixed' class for disbuds and sprays with Billy Bell, John Wingfield and Pennine Oriel.

The class for three vases of exhibition sprays was won by Eric Wilson, Eric's entry consisted of Karon Taylor, Primrose Oriel and Southway Society.

A good vase of Southway Society was entered by J Dempster in the single vase class, this entry was judged second best vase in show.
