Statistics 2006

This page shows the most popular disbud cultivars at the Early shows in Scotland. It highlights the popularity of the medium reflex section and in particular the John Wingfield family.

In the show reports this year there are about 300 individual vases that are mentioned. A count has been made for each individual cultivar to determine which are the most popular cultivars in each section and which are most popular overall.  The statistics are for disbud cultivars only. While this is not entirely accurate because of the vases/cultivars that were not mentioned in reports, the conclusions should be indicative of which cultivars are most frequently exhibited.

Rank Name of Cultivar Times shown Comment
1 John Wingfield 22

Fifty different cultivars are mentioned in the reports.

The John Wingfield family represents over 30%, all seven popular Wingfield cultivars are in the top 10. Add the Chempak Roses and the percentage approaches 40% of all cultivars mentioned in these reports.

Medium intermediates are represented by 4 main cultivars - Millennium, Cornetto, Carlene Welby, Woolley Globe.

Most popular large intermediates are Billy Bell, Lynn Johnson, Yellow Billy Bell and Primrose Chessington.

There are no large reflexed cultivars in the top twenty.

Only one incurved cultivar makes the top twenty - Lorna Wood.

The top 10 cultivars represent 66% of all cultivars mention in reports.
