Dundee Flower Show 31st August - 2nd September

The 2007 Dundee Flower Show was held at Camperdown Park from Friday 31st August to Sunday 2nd September. Following a difficult year for most growers, and with the retirement of a number of prominent growers at the end of 2006, entries in the chrysanthemum classes inevitably suffered.

The premier class in the show is the Scottish Championship - The Andrew Pinkerton Trophy - for four vases of disbudded blooms in four distinct cultivars. Only one entry this year from Paul Barlow. Paul used Billy Bell, John Wingfield, Chempak Rose and the red sport. This entry was awarded first prize and ultimately claimed the Best Exhibit award. The vase of Chempak Rose from this entry was the judge's choice for Best Vase in Show.

There were no entries in the multivase classes for large cultivars.

In the medium Section the class for 3 vases of five blooms was won by Paul Barlow (Yellow John Wingfield, Purple Chempak Rose and Joyce Frieda), there were no other entries in this class.

Ian Gerrie won the class for 6 vases of three medium blooms with Chempak Rose (2), Purple Chempak Rose (2), Woolley Globe and Carlene Welby. There were no other entries in this class.

The class for 3 vases of three blooms was won by Dave Scott with Pink John Wingfield (Best Vase of three blooms and NCS Bronze Medal), John Wingfield and Carlene Welby.  Dorothy Spencer was second with Yellow John Wingfield, Matlock and Amber Matlock. Jim Hosie was third with Pink John Wingfield, Amber Matlock and Bronze Matlock.

In the single vase of Large intermediate Alan Ainsworth was first with Billy Bell, Alan was also successful in several other single vase classes.

In the natural sprays class Dorothy Spencer was first in three vases with Pennine Ginger, Ellen and Yellow Pennine Magic.

Other exhibitors included WG Murray and  W Robertson.
