Naturally Fife - 15/16th September

This year the show remained in Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline, albeit with a slight change in accommodation - a marquee was erected to house the show as the Music Hall was being used for another event.

Unfortunately the chrysanthemum classes were poorly supported, underlining once again the problems growing disbud chrysanthemums in Scotland.

The Fife and Kinross Chrysanthemum Championship calls for three vases of five blooms in distinct cultivars, the winner of this class is awarded the J. Miller Trophy. One entry only in the class this year. Paul Barlow exhibited Millennium, Joyce Frieda and Primrose Chessington.

In the class for six vases of five medium blooms again just one entry from Paul Barlow to win the Centennial Shield with vases of Millennium, John Wingfield plus yellow, honey and salmon sports along with Lorna Wood. This entry was also Best Exhibit in Show and received the NCS Silver Medal.  The Millennium in this entry was selected as Best Vase in Show and awarded the NCS Bronze Medal.

The class for three vases of five blooms, medium, was won by Paul Barlow with vases of Chempak Rose, Purple Chempak Rose and Joyce Frieda.

The class for three vases of three mediums was won by Jim Hosie with Cornetto, Woolley Globe and Millennium.

In the six vases of sprays Bruce McLeod was successful with Enbee Wedding, plus bronze, honey, ruby and primrose sports. Callum Smith was places second, Callum used Hone, Rose and Primrose Enbee Wedding plus Southway Stena.

In the three vase class for exhibition sprays Callum Smith was successful with Eose Enbee, Southway Sheba and Southway Stena. George Christie was second.

Other exhibitors included Bob Wallace, Alexander Innes and A Davidson.
