Perth Chrysanth & Dahlia Society - 8/9th September

The Perth Show was held in St. Mathews Church hall alongside the River Tay in the city centre. In line with other shows already reported entries here were also down compared to previous years.

The premier class calls for six vases of five blooms large and/or medium. Just one entry in the class this year from Paul Barlow. Paul's entry consisted of Pink and Peach John Wingfield, Chempak Rose and the purple sport, Billy Bell and Primrose Chessington. This entry was chosen as Best Exhibit in Show and the vase of Primrose Chessington selected as Best Vase in Show.

In the class for three vases of five medium blooms Paul Barlow's entry (Joyce Frieda,  Red Chempak Rose and John Wingfield) was the only entry and was awarded first prize.

Three entries in the class for three vases of three blooms - Paul Barlow was first (John Wingfield, pink John Wingfield and Joyce Frieda). Jim Hosie was second (pink John Wingfield, Woolley Globe plus Cornetto). The third entry was unfortunately 'nas'd' due to there not being three distinct cultivars in the exhibit.

In the class for three large intermediates W Roberston was successful with Billy Bell, and repeated the success in the incurved class with a single vase of 'Lorna Wood'. Jim Hosie was successful in several single vase classes including the mixed vase of five blooms.

In the spray classes Bruce McLeod was successful with Enbee wedding, Honey Enbee and Lucy, this entry collected the NCS Certificate of Merit. Jim Hosie was second in this class with Rose, Peach and Enbee Wedding. A second Certificate of Merit was awarded to J Cameron for his vase of primrose Enbee Wedding.
