Scottish National C&D Show - 4th/5th September

A very special year in the history of the Scottish National Society - 2007 marked the Society's 75th anniversary. The officers and members went to great lengths to mark the occasion for the exhibitors with many additional prizes awarded. Unfortunately a familiar picture emerged for chrysanthemum exhibits - down on exhibitors and down on entries. The dahlia show was spectacular - quite amazing, with judging overrunning by almost an hour as the team of judges wrestled to find best vases and best exhibits from a wealth of top quality exhibits.

Moving to the results in the chrysanthemum classes:

One entry in the class for six vases of mediums - Paul Barlow was awarded the red card for his entry of John Wingfield plus pink, peach and yellow sports plus red and purple Chempak Rose. This entry was judged overall best exhibit and also contained the best vase of mediums and overall best vase in show - John Wingfield.

In the class for three vases of five blooms Paul Barlow's entry of Yellow Billy Bell, Chempak Rose and Joyce Frieda was the lone entry and was placed first.

In the class for three vases of three blooms Paul Barlow's entry of Lorna Wood, Purple Chempak Rose and Joyce Frieda was placed first ahead of Ian Whitelaw's exhibit of John Wingfield  and pink and peach sports.

Ian Whitelaw won won the 'mixed' class for disbuds and sprays with Billy Bell, John Wingfield and White Enbee Wedding. The Billy Bell from this entry was selected Best Vase of Large Blooms.

The class for six vases of exhibition sprays was won by J Dempster with an 'all Enbee' entry of ruby, primrose, rose, hone and two vases of Enbee itself.

The class for three vases of exhibition sprays was won by Eric Wilson, Eric's entry consisted of Primrose Oriel and Southway Sheba and Broadway Mandy. The vase of Broadway Mandy was selected as best vase of sprays and ultimately second best vase in Show. In second place was J Dempster's entry of Karen Taylor, Southway Sheba and Primrose Oriel.
