The 2009 Dundee Flower Show was held at
Camperdown Park from Friday 4th September to Sunday 6th September. Unfortunately
the weather was somewhat unkind to the organisers, the exhibitors
and the public - we had over 24 hours non-stop rain preceding the show and
conditions inside the marquee were simply horrendous. Take a look at the
video clip below
Nevertheless, the chrysanthemum
exhibitors made the effort resulting in a show which exceeded all
expectations.
The premier class in the show is the
Scottish Championship - The Andrew Pinkerton Trophy - for four vases of
disbudded blooms in four distinct cultivars. There were three entries this
year, Dave Scott was victorious with John Wingfield plus honey and salmon
sports and Millennium. Dave's entry was judged Best Exhibit and his Salmon
John Wingfield was selected as Best Vase in Show. Paul Barlow was second
with Billy Bell and yellow sport, Lynn Johnson and pink John Wingfield.
Robert Jackson was third with Cornetto, candy and salmon John Wingfield
and Chempak Rose.
In the medium Section the class for 3
vases of five blooms was won by Paul Barlow (John Wingfield, Red Chempak Rose and
Millennium).
Ian Gerrie won the class for 6 vases of
three medium blooms with Yellow John Wingfield (2), plus pink salmon and
John Wingfield and Carlene Welby.
The class for 3 vases of three blooms was
won by Jim Hosie with Woolley Globe, Cornetto and Lorna Wood.
In the single vase of Large intermediate
Paul Barlow was first with Lynn Johnson.
Walter Robertson was successful with
single vases of three and five Yellow John Wingfield, winning best vase of
three in show and best vase of five outside championship classes.

Goldie to win the class.

The same two exhibitors contested the
three vase class. Walter was placed first again with vases of Oriel plus
