Cultural guide
provided by Ivor Mace
Lancashire Lad, raised by Arnold
Fitton and released by Neil Zwager and Alan Wren in 1971. It was
unsuccessful and quickly died out, but a few growers persevered with it
and from some of this stock Howard Minns showed two very good blooms in
the early 1990's. I have had consistent results ever since.
Root mid January for 2nd crown, 1st stop 21st March. 2nd stop
one break on 15th May the other on 25th May. Keeping the bud nearest to
10th of August securing. Keep them on
Q4, as ripe wood is a must.

Regional Stopping guide
The dates we choose for stopping our chrysanths can never be
guaranteed to produce flowers on a specific date for a specific show,
weather conditions and other factors (such as garden aspect, location,
cultural routine etc) will all play a part in influencing speed of plant
and flower development following the stop. The information provided here relates to
stopping dates for producing early flowering blooms for Shows during the first half of
September or late flowering blooms for the first half of November and are offered as a start point for new growers. Adjustments
should be made for later or earlier shows. |
