History of Phil Houghton

Raised by Jack Woolman and released in 1973, Woolman's also released a Yellow sport in 1993. Most growers grow Phil 2nd crown, root end of January, 1st stop mid April, 2nd stop, one break 25th May and the other 5th June. I only use a 9" pot as I find they don't dry out enough for a bigger pot. Andy Wickham uses a 10"pot and grows 8 up and cuts down to one when the buds are secured. Aim to secure the bud by 8th August. I don't overfeed, Andy gives full feeds. He lives on the eastern side of the country and his plants dry out far more than mine do.

The information provided here relates to stopping dates for producing early flowering blooms for Shows during the first half of September or late flowering blooms for the first half of November and are offered as a start point for new growers. Adjustments should be made for later or earlier shows.
