Cultural guide
A slender grower
with quite large rounded leaves. After securing buds there is a tendency for the
neck to stretch away from the top leaves. Blooms are pure white and hard
petalled, not susceptible to damping. Equally at home when grown in pots or in
the open bed. Depending on rooting and stopping date this cultivar will provide
blooms from late August into September. Regular feeding programme up to calyx
split then water only with produce good sized blooms.
Some growers have used the 'starvation' technique with
this cultivar. Water and feed are withheld creating a very hard plant,
the resulting blooms are very small but perfectly round. Best in show
vases have been created using both approaches.

Regional Stopping guide
The dates we choose for stopping our chrysanths can never be
guaranteed to produce flowers on a specific date for a specific show,
weather conditions and other factors (such as garden aspect, location,
cultural routine etc) will all play a part in influencing speed of plant
development following the stop. The following information relates to
stopping dates for producing blooms for Shows during the first half of
September and are offered as a start point for new growers. Adjustments
should be made for later or earlier shows. |
