Cultural
tips from John Peace and Barry Hogg:
John's notes:
With "Allyson Peace" I rooted it in January and stopped it on
7th of April and from this I had flowers throughout September, including
the National and afterwards.
It is not a heavy plant, it is an easy grower, which can take some feed.
The flower is a vibrant yellow, and has plenty of petal giving it good
equal depth and breadth. The other advantage to this flower is that it can
be grown as a late.
Barry's notes, a variation on John's
culture:
Pot grown - 10ins clay.
Potted 20th May in 50 / 50 multipurpose and JI No 3 with extra Grit.
Stopped 10th April. Flowered 2 up full bloom 13th September.
Plant habit not lush almost spindle like, from securing Bud they take a
long time to develop. Because of the lightweight structure of the plant I
did continue to liquid feed (101) up to half out. No sign of spotting.
U.K. Regional Stopping guide
The dates we choose for stopping our chrysanths can never be
guaranteed to produce flowers on a specific date for a specific show,
weather conditions and other factors (such as garden aspect, location,
cultural routine etc) will all play a part in influencing speed of plant
development following the stop. The following information relates to
stopping dates for producing blooms for Shows during the first half of
September and are offered as a start point for new growers. Adjustments
should be made for later or earlier shows.
